When Apple launched the iPad 2 last week, Verizon said that it would be nixing its usual $35 activation fee that's associated with picking up a new device. Now a leak has revealed that its Android-powered tablets will be getting the same treatment. According to the document up above, VZW will be waiving activation fees for the Motorola XOOM and Samsung Galaxy Tab when purchased with a month-to-month contract. If you've recently purchased one of those devices and paid the fee, go ahead and give Big Red a call; several users have reported that the carrier has been handing out credits.
I'm not sure that axing the activation fee will be the deciding factor in a tablet buying decision for most, but hey, when you're dropping nearly a grand on a shiny new device, every little bit helps. Good on Verizon for deciding to give their Android users the same treatment as the iOS ones. So, while we're on the topic of Big Red's Android tablet lineup, how are you XOOM owners enjoying your new tablet so far?
