Microsoft is set to roll out Windows Phone 7's first big update, codenamed NoDo, in the next couple of weeks, and the second huge update, codenamed Mango, was set to arrive some time in the second half of this year. Unfortunately, WP7 users may be stuck waiting for Mango a little longer than anticipated, if a report from Paul Thurrott is to be believed. In a recent article discussing NoDo, Thurrott mentions that, while Microsoft has said that Mango would arrive before 2011 is up, his sources claim that that's a "near impossibility." Thurrott also drops a couple of other interesting WP7-related tidbits into the report, saying that NoDo was actually ready in December but was blocked by carriers for unknown reasons, and that we can expect Verizon to announce the HTC Trophy some time this month.
It's nice to know that NoDo is still on track to hit some time in the next week or two, despite a few hiccups, but I'm sure that there are more than a few WP7 users that'll be bummed if Mango gets pushed to 2012. With stuff like a new version of IE and better multitasking capabilities, among a ton of other improvements, Mango is shaping up to be a feature-packed update, so here's to hoping Microsoft finds a way to get it out on time.
