We've heard a couple of times in the past that RIM may be working on getting Android apps to play nice with the PlayBook, and the ShopSavvy devs even reported that a few BlackBerrys were spotted using their Android app the other day. Today we can add even more evidence to the PlayBook/Android pile, although this time the claim comes from a source that's a bit more official than the others: a RIM representative. After detailing some of PlayBook's software offerings, the rep lets slip that they'll "also support Android apps." The quote can be found around the 0:13 mark in the clip below.

While this certainly isn't official confirmation, the rep's statement does make all of the other claims we've heard more believable. Of course, for all we know, the RIM employee is simply repeating things that he's heard online. Giving the PlayBook the ability to run Android apps certainly seems like a pretty good way to bolster the number of apps available to users, and could end up attracting customers that otherwise may not have been interested in it.
