Apple is prepping to unveil the next-gen iPad next week, but a new report shows that many consumers have been pretty content with the current model. According to some statistics from ABI Research, there were around 4.5 million "media tablets" shipped during the third quarter of 2010. Of that 4.5 million, around 93 percent, or 4.3 million, were iPads.
There's no doubt that that's a pretty impressive figure, but the iPad didn't have much competition at that time, either. With devices like the XOOM, TouchPad, and PlayBook, it's likely that the second iPad won't see the same kind of dominance as its predecessor. Of course, that's not a bad thing. So now I pose the following question to all of you tablet fanatics out there: which upcoming slate looks most appealing to you?
