Today, Verizon and Motorola Solutions officially announced a new partnership that will see the availability of Verizon's 4G LTE network for public safety institutions. The service will provide nationwide roaming for the agencies, and provide real-time control and management of their communication. As confirmed in an email, the service will allow for public safety individuals or agencies to roam off of Verizon's LTE network as much or as little as they need, when they need it.
It's no surprise that a team-up like this is happening, or that public safety agencies are gaining access to LTE. In early 2011, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) mandated the usage of LTE by public safety agencies for the usage of mobile broadband, or other uses as they see fit or as needed.
