HP announced a trio of new webOS devices yesterday, but if you need a new device from them right now, then they can help you out with that, too. Right on schedule, HP has put the Pre 2 for Verizon up for pre-order on its website. The Pre successor will run customers $99.99 with a two-year contract and shipments will begin going out on February 17th, just like we'd heard. If you're not interested in signing away two years of your wireless life for a device whose follow-up will be out later this year, you can pick up a Pre 2 off-contract for $439.99.
Even if it is being outshined by the Pre 3, the Pre 2 isn't a terrible device, especially for only $100 on-contract. It's got a 1GHz CPU, 5 megapixel camera, 16GB of storage, and, unlike the webOS phones before it, will actually see updates beyond webOS 2.0. Still, it's tough to ignore the fact that the Pre 2 was announced way back in October 2010 and will be replaced with a larger-screened, overall superior product this summer. If only Verizon and HP had been able to push the Pre 2 out in Q4 like we had originally heard...
