That hasn't stopped the folks from Wirefly from potentially doing that for them, though. Early this morning, someone spotted a comparison between the iPhone 4 and the XPERIA Play on Wirefly's website, and as you can see, "Verizon Wireless" is listed as a carrier for the Play. There's not really any other new info to be found on the page, but I'd say that that's pretty huge news on its own.
Sony Ericsson isn't really known for releasing a ton of their smartphones here in the U.S., but it wouldn't surprise me if having a larger presence here was part of their plans for an improved 2011. Creating a phone with the world's most popular OS and the PlayStation brand certainly seems like a great way to start those plans, especially when you put that device on the largest carrier in the country. Still, this news isn't totally official, so don't get your hopes up for a Verizon XPERIA Play just yet. Sony Ericsson will reveal everything we need to know at MWC, which we'll be covering live, so stay tuned!
