LG may not be including a glasses-free 3D display on the upcoming G-Slate, but that doesn't mean that they don't have smaller-screened handsets with 3D displays on the way. The first bit of evidence we have of an upcoming 3D LG phone is the image you see above, which was leaked by retailer ThePhoneHouse. It mentions a device called the "LG Optimus 3D," although the phone in the image is obviously just a placeholder since it's a plain ol' Optimus One. There weren't any specs for the Optimus 3D mentioned.
The second, more official piece of evidence is an invite to LG's Mobile World Congress event on February 14th. The title of the event? "Into the New Dimension."
After LG showed off a 4.3-inch glasses-free 3D device at CES, it seemed like it was only a matter of time before they actually launched a phone with a 3D screen. The question is, will people buy it? I've said in the past that I'm not completely sold on the idea of a 3D display, mostly because it seems like there aren't many instances in which you'd actually want to use 3D. Regardless, it certainly seems like LG is going to push out a glasses-free 3D phone, and with NVIDIA's 3D-capable Tegra 2 going into production soon, I wouldn't be surprised if more 3D phones hit the market in the near future.
