There have been a lot of big changes going on with several of the major carriers lately, most of them changing things for the worst. For example, AT&T will be axing some of its upgrade discounts and text plans on January 23rd. A new leak has revealed that they'll be making some more adjustments on the 23rd, but this time the changes are actually good. According to a document leaked to BGR, AT&T will be launching a new trade-in program that will allow users to hand over their unwanted handsets and get a new device at a discounted price. If you're not in the market for a new phone, you can also opt to get a check for your trade-in or, if you're in a giving mood, AT&T can donate the money to charity for you. Phones will be accepted whether they're AT&T-branded or from another carrier.
AT&T seems poised to be making some big changes to its policies on the 23rd and, while most of them seem pretty bad, this trade-in program sounds like a pretty good deal for customers. For example, ATT may be cutting out its $50 and $100 discounts that are sometimes stacked with subsidized handset pricing, but now you can trade your old phone in when upgrading and potentially get even more money taken off of the price of your new device. Sounds like a pretty good plan, no?
