Ever since the release of the first beta of iOS 4.3, everyone's been digging furiously through the code to try and find some hidden nuggets of information about upcoming Apple products. Some new details have turned up, most notably about the iPad 2 and its resolution. It's long been assumed that, while the second iPad likely wouldn't sport a Retina Display, it'd at least have a higher-res screen than the current model. Camera shutter images in iOS 4.3 beta 1 have revealed, though, that the iPad 2 may sport the same 1024x768 resolution as its predecessor. Additionally, some new iPhone and iPad models were found in the beta's code: iPhone 3,3; iPhone 4,1; iPhone 4;2; iPad 2,1; iPad 2,2; and iPad 2,3. iPhone 4,x and iPad 2,x are likely the next-gen models, but exactly what iPhone 3,3 is isn't clear yet.
On a separate note, German blog MacNotes.de claims that "reliable sources" have told them that the iPad 2 will launch in the U.S. on one of the first two Saturdays in April. That means we could be seeing the second-gen iPad on either April 2nd or April 9th.
If Apple does end up releasing the iPad 2 with a resolution of 1024x768, I've got a feeling that there will be more than a few disappointed customers. We shouldn't be terribly surprised if the rumor becomes reality, though, because including a true Retina Display would be pretty tough to pull off. The other information we've covered isn't terribly hard to believe, like the fact that Apple is planning a new iPhone and iPad. As for the iPad 2 launch, the rumor doesn't come as much news since many expected an April launch, following Apple's yearly release schedule. Going back to the iPad 2 screen resolution, are you going to be disappointed if it launches with the same display as the iPad?
