Now that the year 2010 is gone for good, many companies are taking a step back to examine what they did last year and how they can improve in 2011. One such outfit is Sony Ericsson, who recently discussed their past and future in an interview with Pocket-lint. Steve Walker, SE's acting global head of marketing, explained that his company had a hard time predicting what the industry would look like in 2010 when they started designing handsets in 2008, especially when it comes to the surging popularity of Android. So what's going to be changing in 2011? Walker explains that SE has learned to focus more on hardware, which took a backseat to software in 2010, and that consumers love Android. The XPERIA Arc is a good example of both, he says, and they've got many more like it planned.
Sony Ericsson definitely had a slightly less than stellar year in the world of smartphones, especially compared to high-profile handsets like the EVO and Galaxy S range. Luckily, it seems that the they're already turning things around in 2011 with the Arc, PlayStation Phone, and the X10 Mini Pro successor that's leaked a couple of times lately. We've already heard that SE is planning to unveil a new lineup of XPERIA-branded phones at MWC, so here's to hoping that they've got more of the same up their sleeve for next month.
