At the Microsoft CES keynote last night, CEO Steve Ballmer touched on upcoming Windows Phone 7 updates and said that a first would be coming to our handsets soon. We heard recently that the first upgrade, reportedly codenamed "NoDo," could land in early February, but Microsoft's own website has revealed that it may land even sooner. On the page that details the update on Microsoft's site, the URL contains the phrase "january-update.aspx," which seems like a pretty strong hint that WP7 owners will be cutting and pasting in no time.
There's no specific date mentioned in the Microsoft URL, unfortunately, but if I had to guess, I'd say that the update is likely to come toward the end of the month. It's important to remember that things may have been delayed a bit since the URL was created, though, so the February launch rumor that we've heard before could end up holding true. While the concrete launch date for the upgrade isn't known, we do know that Windows Phone 7's first major update is coming, and it's coming soon. Get excited!
