CES is only a couple of weeks away, and looking over all of the recent news, you'd think that Verizon was going to be the only carrier with any kind of presence at the show.  Obviously there will be other carriers, though, and I have a feeling that you'll be interested in seeing what T-Mobile plans to show off.  In a recent interview, T-Mobile's Senior Director of Engineering Mark McDiarmid said that his carrier will detail plans for upgrading its 4G network to 42Mbps speeds at CES next month, and that smartphones capable of taking advantage of those speeds will be introduced next year.  T-Mobile also hinted at what else it'll have on offer at CES with the following statement:

“T-Mobile is big on Android, big on faster 4G speeds and big on 4G devices including tablets.  We will continue to drive innovation on these fronts in 2011.”

Along with Verizon, T-Mobile is one of the best carrier options when it comes to a variety of Android devices, and I'm not surprised that Magenta plans to continue that trend into 2011.  What I'm really looking forward to is 42Mbps HSPA+ and, of course, the 4G tablets, which we've heard T-Mo talk about once before.  It'll be interesting to see when T-Mobile actually begins to upgrade their network and how soon they can get hardware out to take advantage of those upgrades.  Whenever they do get 42Mbps-capable handsets out, I'll be one of the first in line.
