The Samsung Intercept probably wouldn't be one of the first devices that springs to mind when you ask someone which Android phones would be updated in the near future, but a recent leak shows that that's precisely what may happen.  A newly-leaked document sent to the folks at Android Central shows that the Intercept could be set to receive Android 2.2 (sorry, no Gingerbread) as soon as tomorrow, December 17th.  Included in the upgrade are some bug fixes, including one that wouldn't allow access to Google's own website, the addition of TeleNav GPS, and the ability to use your handset as a mobile hotspot for a mere $29.99 per month.

It's pretty sad to see that the Intercept is only getting Froyo and not Gingerbread, but hey, it's better than nothing.  Plus, you Intercept owners will be able to rub your newly-upgraded device in the face of your Epic brethren (that didn't install the unofficial update) for a while.  I'm honestly kind of surprised that the Intercept is getting updated before the Epic, especially since the Galaxy S devices have been Samsung's flagship products for a while now.  Considering that we saw a "test build" of Android 2.2 for the Epic leak just a couple of weeks ago, though, I don't think it'll be much longer before the real thing finally arrives.  Intercept owners out there, be sure to give us a shout if and when you see an update arrive!
