There are a ton of Android devices on the market, but which one is the most popular? According to the folks at advertising network Chitika, the Motorola DROID is the king of the Android hill as of November, even though it's been discontinued for some time now (though a pre-owned model is still available from VZW). The DROID made up 18.65 percent of Android traffic, while the EVO 4G controls 11.9 percent of the market. Motorola's DROID X is sitting at 9.67 percent and the HTC DROID Incredible is not far behind at 7.19 percent. All other handsets are below 5 percent, and you can see the full list below.
It's kind of surprising to see that the OG DROID is still the top Android phone over a year after its release, especially when you consider that there's just about a new Android-powered device coming out just about couple of weeks. Still, Verizon had a pretty big marketing push behind the DROID, and with its good specs, hardware QWERTY keyboard, and vanilla build of Android, it appealed to a wide range of people. Is this evidence for Verizon's claim that it's responsible for Android's success? Tough to say, but it's certainly something to consider.
