Usually when we hear of violence between man and phone, it's the phone that's on the receiving end of things. Today, however, a DROID 2 was the one dealing the damage. The story reportedly goes like this: Aron Embry was talking on his D2, minding his own business, when he hears a pop. After ending the call, Embry saw that the screen of his device is busted up and bloody and that he was bleeding out of his ear. After driving to his wife to have her take photos (presumably for their lawyers), Embry drove to the doctor and had four stitches put in, although it appears that he's suffered no hearing loss. After hearing the news, Motorola issued the following statement:
Motorola’s priority is, and always has been the safety of our customers, and all Motorola products are designed, manufactured and tested to meet or exceed international and local standards for consumer safety. We will reach out to the consumer and investigate this thoroughly.
This news is pretty shocking, and it definitely makes me glad that I'm usually stick to texting rather than making calls. It's not really clear what caused the phone to explode, especially since only the antenna and speaker are present behind the exploded portion of Embry's D2. Motorola's looking into things, but it's unlikely that we'll ever learn the truth about what was to blame for the accident. So, do any of you have any theories about the explosion?
