It's no secret that Samsung's Captivate and Vibrant have suffered from GPS problems ever since launch, and many users have resorted to ROMs and other hacks to remedy the situation. Today Samsung released an app to try get things running smoothly again. Titled "GPS Restore," the app promises to wipe any adjustments that a user may have made, restoring the device's GPS to factory fresh settings for "optimum performance." If you're the owner of a Captivate or Vibrant and are still suffering from GPS woes, it could be worth a shot to check out Samsung's GPS Restore app on the Android Market.
I'm kind of confused as to why Samsung is restoring the GPS on these devices when many of them didn't work in the first place, but I suppose it's something. Users that have installed the app seem to report that the results are a bit hit or miss, so here's to hoping that a an actual fix comes along sooner rather than later. In the mean time, if you own a Captivate or Vibrant and run the GPS Restore app, be sure to let us know the results.
