You may remember an announcement of the Viewsonic Android tablets that came at the beginning of this month. Well, if you were wondering when the Galaxy Tab's arch enemy was going to steal the spotlight, Black Friday may be that day. According to Android Central, the 10.1-inch Android-powered tablet will be available for $399.98 on Black Friday at Staples. Considering what this bad boy packs under the hood, this just may be a steal. Some of the specs for the G tablet are:
Some of the specs that were listed by Android Central and the specs that were directly from the press release do conflict though. The press release claims the G tablet will have a 1.66 GHz Atom processor with the option to dual boot between Windows 7 and Android 1.6, Android Central's source claims it is an NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor and just Android 2.2. The descrepancy in Android versions is a major difference in the specifications and I'm unsure which is correct. Either way, this is still a good deal as I'm sure this 10.1-inch tablet will eventually be introduced to Froyo, or even Gingerbread since 2.2 isn't optimized for use with tablets. It's unfortunate that it didn't break the sub-$300 mark, it would have made the top of my list.
