Surprise! Without any fanfare or press release, Verizon has made the DROID 2 Global available for purchase on their website. For a mere $200 (with two-year commitment and $100 mail-in rebate, of course), you'll be getting a 1.2GHz processor and CDMA/GSM capabilities in either the standard blue or a clean white. The D2G works on the 850/900/1800/1900MHz GSM bands, 850 /1900/2100MHz bands for UMTS/HSPA, and good ol' EV-DO Rev. A on 800/1900. If you prefer a more portrait QWERTY experience, it looks like Verizon is allowing people to straight up purchase the DROID Pro from their website, too. Yesterday when the DROID Pro became official, Verizon said that pre-orders would begin today with full availability starting on the 18th, but many users are reporting that they've already placed orders and gotten overnight shipping confirmations.
It's kind of surprising that Verizon would quietly launch the DROID 2 Global like this, especially since it has a bumped up processor and world-roaming capabilities. Some may think that the D2G being made available was a mistake, but if that were the case I'm sure that it'd be removed from VZW's site by now. Whatever the reason, all that matters is both the DROID 2 Global and the DROID Pro are now available.
Go get 'em!
