Sprint's WiMAX network has been in testing in New York City and San Francisco for some time now, but the switch hasn't officially been flipped in those cities. We've been hearing that the NYC, SF, and LA would be lit up soon, and now Sprint has come forward with hard launch dates for the three major cities. The folks in NYC will be the first of the batch with official 4G, starting on November 1st. Next in line is LA, which will be feeling the 4G goodness starting one month later on December 1st. Finally, everyone up the road in SF can expect Sprint WiMAX to go official some time in late December.
It may have taken Sprint longer than we would've like to officially launch their WiMAX service in three of the biggest metropolitan areas in the country, but at least it's finally (almost) here. With the news that T-Mobile may be branding their HSPA+ network as "America's largest 4G network," perhaps we'll be seeing even more Sprint 4G launches in the near future? One can certainly hope...
