Cricket has slowly been expanding their smartphone lineup with Androids and BlackBerrys, and now they've got their eyes set on adding a couple other hot platforms.  Speaking at CTIA today, Matt Stoiber, Cricket's VP of devices, said that his carrier would love to offer both the mythical CDMA iPhone and Windows Phone 7 devices to its customers.  Stoiber also noted that Cricket hasn't yet spoken with Apple about carrying the iPhone.  Currently Cricket sells both the BlackBerry 8530 and the Kyocera Zio, and they also recently announced the $149 Huawei Ascend, another Android-powered smartphone.

Yesterday we saw another Verizon iPhone rumor, which many in the tech industry believe is the real deal.  If true, that means Cricket customers could potentially use the iPhone on their network since both carriers use CDMA and many Verizon phones can be flashed to work on Cricket.  The problem with Cricket actually selling these high end handsets themselves is that since they don't offer subsidies or contracts, their phones carry high price tags.  Stoiber said that customers haven't had much of an issue forking over $250-$300 for the previously mentioned Kyocera Zio and BlackBerry 8530, but an unsubsidized iPhone can easily cost more than double that.  Considering that Cricket is often looked as a more affordable carrier, a $700+ iPhone could be a tough pill to swallow for some of its 5.3 million subscribers.
