Slowly but surely, the webOS 1.4.5 update has been rolling out to the Palm Pres and Pixis on various networks. How is the new update treating you? Are you seeing any differences and are they positive?
For me, I have only noticed subtle changes thus far, but it’s an improvement nonetheless and has made me that much more eager to experience webOS 2.0. The most concrete difference that I have realized is better app performance. In fact, the People app that I mildly complained about last week seems to now be working great. It loads with ease every time and even provides notifications of breaking celebrity headlines and stories. Now I wonder where the original problem actually lied, and hope that others are also enjoying the improvements as well.
To summarize Palm’s update information and release notes, as stated on Palm’s website, the webOS 1.4.5 update provides the following:
For most users, the above means only slight tweaks and improvements. If you are experiencing any problems with your apps since the update, check to make sure you have the latest version installed. This can be done through either Updates or the App Catalog (Tip: Just click on the Shopping Bag icon in the lower right-hand corner of the App Catalog screen for updates).
Gamers, however, should be seeing significant changes and enjoying the 3D gaming support as a result of the PDK. Translation: Angry Birds, the #1 mobile game, is now yours for the downloading at the small price of $1.99 in the App Catalog.
Even though it’s not mentioned specifically on Palm’s website, I’ve heard of other users experiencing increased battery life and better Mobile Hotspot connectivity. What have you noticed with webOS 1.4.5?
