Apple said at their recent music event that iOS 4.1 would be coming this week and, lo and behold, it's arrived on schedule. Among the usual bug fixes and enhancements, iOS 4.1 also resolves the nasty proximity sensor problem that iPhone 4 owners have been experiencing (contrary to what we heard in the past), improves iOS 4 performance on the aging iPhone 3G, bring the Game Center app to select devices, and allows iPhone 4 owners to take High Dynamic Range photos. The update is live in iTunes right now, so if you're itching to load Apple's latest and greatest software, plug in your iDevice and update away!
After updating my iPhone 4 and testing out the new features, it seems that everything works as advertised. Signing up for the Game Center was pretty painless, and HDR photos seem to work pretty well. It's kind of disappointing that iPhone 3G owners won't be getting access to the Game Center app, but I suppose at least they're getting improved performance with iOS 4.1. If you've downloaded iOS 4.1 on your iDevice, tell us your experiences with the new features below!
