A couple of days ago we saw Sony Ericsson's XPERIA X8 pass through the FCC, but we were left to wonder if and when it was coming to the U.S. and how much it would cost if it did. Today we can answer a couple of those questions for you. The folks over at Engadget were able to get their hands on an X8 for a short period of time and learned that it will be coming to the U.S. in an unlocked form that will cost less than $300. However, there was no release date mentioned except that it would be coming "soon." When it came to handling the X8, Engadget noted that the device and UI seemed responsive, although the virtual keyboard experience turned out to be cramped, which isn't surprising considering the device's 3-inch screen.
Like I said in the previous post about the X8, it may not be able to hold its own against the bleeding edge Android devices of today, but for less than $300 unlocked, it is a tremendous deal. Add in the fact that it will receive an update to Android 2.1 in Q4 this year, and the X8 becomes quite a pocketable little bargain. Would any of you pick up an X8 unlocked when it launches in the near future?
