First we heard that Verizon and HTC's DROID Incredible would get Android 2.2 in late July or early August. Then the rumored date was pushed to August 6th. The last rumor was August 18th, which came and went without a hint of frozen goodness. Now we have a new date: September 1st. This report comes from a source speaking to Droid Life, who explained that the Android 2.2 will bring 720p video capture, better voice quality, carrier bloatware, and other improvements. Just remember that, as we've seen, rumors do not equal facts, so I wouldn't go and get your hopes up just yet.
As we've seen, the date that an Android upgrade is coming to a certain device is pretty hard to nail down. I would hope that HTC and Verizon would push out the Froyo update for the Incredible for the near future, especially since the Sense-ified version of Android 2.2 has already made its way to the EVO. The Incredible is currently (finally) in stock on Verizon's website, so how about giving new owners a nice new surprise when they first boot up their devices, HTC/Verizon?
UPDATE: And another rumor bites the dust, folks. The same sources who tipped off Droid Life have now backed off from their rumor, saying that rumors have pushed the update back to an unknown date. The wait continues!
