Earlier we reported on a rumor that Apple would be holding an event on September 7th that would introduce $0.99 TV show rentals. It turns out that the rumor wasn't far off, as Apple has just sent out invites for an event on September 1st, aka a week from today. Judging by the photo of the invite, the event will be music-centric, meaning refreshed iPods and iPod Touches (possibly with FaceTime capabilities) will probably be the focus. Knowing how unpredictable Apple is, though, I wouldn't rule out something TV-related, as well.
Apple has been holding an iPod event in September for quite some time, so this news isn't terribly surprising. There have been rumors of a new Apple TV appearing some time in the future, so perhaps Apple will take the opportunity to unveil that device along with $0.99 TV show rentals, as well? No one knows for sure, but we're only seven days away from finding out. Stay tuned!
