Yesterday we brought you news that LG's next iteration of their enV Touch would be running the Android OS, and today we've got even more info on that device for you. A tipster speaking with Boy Genius Report has said that the device will end up being called the LG enV G and that it will sport a hinged, dual touchscreen form factor and a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor. The source also said that LG will be releasing a mid-range full touch device this holiday season, and that it will be running Android 2.1. Known internally as "Thunder," the handset will allegedly be released on Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Metro PCS. Finally, BGR's tipster described a Windows Phone 7-powered LG handset, likely the C900, that will be released when the OS is finally launched. Samsung and HTC will also be contributing one handset each, says the source, although LG's will be the only one with a keyboard. Maybe the Cetus and the Schubert?
This is definitely a lot of news to digest at once, but I'm glad to see LG putting together so many smartphones. I'm pretty surprised that they plan to take one of their most popular messaging devices (enV Touch) and turn it into a smartphone, but perhaps they have a new messaging phone to replace it with. It would also be great to see them push out a device on all four big carriers along with Metro PCS, but it is kind of disappointing that the device is described as mid-range.
