We were all a litte saddened when Google finally killed off its phone store where it sold the Nexus One to consumers, but now the big G is making the device available once again. The catch? You must be a registered Android developer to buy one. Google has announced on its Android Developers Blog that the Nexus One is now the Developer Phone, available for $529. Interestingly, the Nexus One will still ship with Android 2.1 installed when you buy it, but Google says that the device will begin downloading Android 2.2 shortly after you turn it on.
While it's disappointing that you have to be a registered Android developer to buy an N1 now, it's great to see the device make another appearance. Following the G1/Dream and Ion in the line of Developer Phones, it'll be interesting to see what device follows the Nexus One as the new developer phone (whenever that will hit). If you're interested in becoming an Android developer or just really, really want a Nexus One, visit the developer sign-up page right here.
