Motorola DROID Android 2.2 update now available from Google

While the Android 2.2 update for the Motorola DROID may not be rolling out over the air just yet, some astute users have managed to dig up the official update file on Google's site.  If you don't feel like waiting for Verizon to send you your Froyo OTA, you can do the upgrade manually right now.  You can grab the official update straight from Google right here, or if you hit up the source link below, there are a couple mirrors you can also use.

Considering this is an official, signed update, it doesn't sound like you have too much to worry about if you decide to take the plunge.  If you're nervous, though, I'm sure Verizon will be sending you the download notification some time in the next few days.  When you're ready to go through with it, you can find everything you need, including instructions, at the source link below.  Have any of you installed the official Android 2.2 update on your DROID already?
