With the constant onslaught of new, high-end Android devices, it can be easy to forget where the platform originally started. The venerable T-Mobile G1 is where many Android fans got their first experience with the little green robot, and now the device has finally vanished from existence. Almost two years after bursting onto the scene, the G1 has been removed from Amazon, T-Mobile, and other retailers' sites. Sure, you could probably hunt one down if you really wanted to, but for now let's just pour one out and remember the all the good that the G1 did for the mobile phone world.
The original Google phone, the G1 launched to much fanfare and lead the way not only for the Android OS, but also for the Android community. Now, thanks to the G1, Android is one of the biggest mobile platforms in the world. Sure, the chin at the bottom of the device may have gotten in the way of some users, but even after nearly two years, it's still tough to find an Android device with a keyboard better than the one on the G1. If you're feeling nostalgic, you can check out the G1's website here to rekindle some good memories. So, how many of you out there are still rocking a G1?
