T-Mobile this morning announced an expansion to their HSPA+ footprint, bringing their "4G speeds" (which are really 3G, but are blazing fast) to a total of 50 markets. The 25 new markets announced include:
In addition to the new markets, Magenta has expanded coverage in Los Angeles, New York, and Washington, D.C. As it stands, T-Mobile covers 85 million people, with the plan to cover 185 million people by the end of the year. The nation's fourth largest carrier also announced the T-Mobile webConnect Rocket 2.0 USB laptop stick, a revision to the original webConnect Rocket. The new device offers a rotating form factor, making it easier to plug in at various angles.
If you have one of the devices pictured above (or the Samsung Vibrant), you will be able to take advatage of the "improved speeds." Interestingly enough, while none of these devices are HSPA+ capable, T-Mobile claims that users will benefit from the revised architecture. Only 100 million to go, T-Mobile...you can do it!
