The downside to creating feature-rich, awesome phones is that everyone wants one. The inventory issues that have been affecting Sprint's HTC EVO 4G since its June 4th launch are here to stay, according to the Wall Street Journal. The primary problem lies in Samsung's ability to produce the touchscreens used on the device. Boosted by the popularity of touchscreen smartphones, the company is working to increase production capacity by building a new factory, but it won't be completed until 2012.
The touchscreen production shortages are also plaguing Verizon's HTC DROID Incredible, which has been pushed back to an August 9th in-stock date. Sprint doesn't give a specific date for when the device will return, but offers the following on their website:

Despite the inventory challenges, analyst estimates place the number of EVO 4Gs sold at 300,000. For recent EVO buyers out there, have the shortages translated into issues at the store?
