While there are other options for reading eBooks on Android, one of the more popular eReader options is now available for Android devices. Amazon's Kindle for Android app is now available, allowing users to download books from Amazon's site and read them on any compatible device, like an iPhone, BlackBerry, PC, Mac, or Kindle device. The app will sync your bookmarks and library across all of your devices so you never lose your place. There is no full-text search and you can't buy books from within the app, but Amazon says those capabilities are coming soon.
It's great to see Android getting more apps like Kindle for Android and continuing to catch up to the iPhone in terms of both quality and quantity of applications. While it's disappointing that the Android app is missing some features found in the iPhone version, I'm sure that Amazon will work quickly to bring both applications up to the same level of quality. While I don't read eBooks on any sort of mobile device (I don't know how you people can read on such a small screen!), I'm sure that the Kindle app will be a great choice for those of you who do. Have any of you already checked out Kindle for Android? Tell us your thoughts!
