Before Verizon's Android lineup increases today, the carrier has decided to shrink it slightly. Big Red has phased out the HTC DROID Eris, removing almost every trace of the device from its site. Searching the site for HTC Android devices brings up only the Incredible, as can be seen above. If a recently leaked device closeout list is to be believed, though, the Incredible may soon disappear, as well. The shot below shows the list, which includes the BlackBerry Tour, Storm, Curve, and the DROID Eris along with the Incredible. There is speculation that this may be due to an SKU change since Verizon recently changed the Incredible packaging to fit in line with the rest of the DROID devices. The Verizon site shows that Incredible orders will be shipped by July 21st, so it appears that HTC is still having supply issues with the screens.
The DROID Eris has been out for some time, so it's not terribly surprising to see it finally laid to rest. The Incredible has only been available for a couple of months, though, and is still one of the higher-specced Android devices available. Supply issues have consistently been pushing back availability of the device, so perhaps Verizon has finally had enough. With the impending announcement of the Motorola DROID X and Droid 2, the carrier will definitely have some new handsets to place the spotlight on.
