There has been a lot of back and forth between Apple and HTC recently, with Apple suing HTC and then HTC countersuing Apple right back. Today, Apple fired the next volley as they sued HTC once again. Court documents show that the case was filed earlier this week in the same Delaware court as the original case way back in March 2010. The new suit focuses on four patents, two of which were included in the original lawsuit but are being re-included because of minor corrections made by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The last two are actually the same patent, as one is just a continuation of the earlier patent. A drawing included with the last two patents can be seen above. On top of the new patents, the suit also cites Exedea, an HTC subsidiary that imports and distributes HTC devices in the U.S. The patents in question can be seen below.
After HTC filed a countersuit and wanted Apple to halt all iPhone sales, it's not a surprise that Apple has fired back. With this latest update in the Apple-HTC battle, it's obvious that things won't be over any time soon. It would be great to see the two companies come to some cross-license agreement, but both Apple and HTC seem intent on suing each other until one of them comes out victorious. Can't we all just get along, guys?
