Given the short-term success of the Android platform, it's understandable that regional carriers want to jump on the bandwagon. We knew that US Cellular was picking up the Samsung Acclaim and HTC Desire at some point this summer, but the nation's sixth largest carrier got all official this weekend and announced the upcoming availability of the Acclaim via Facebook. Arriving at US Cellular retail stores on July 9th, little is known about the device beyond its 3.2-inch HVGA touchscreen and Android 2.1 (Eclair) OS.
To the US Cellular folks out there, are you going to jump to the Acclaim at launch, or are you waiting for the HTC Desire? Let me know!
Update: A tipster wrote in and informed me that the device will be packing an 800 MHz processor and a 1400 mAh battery. We'll find out soon enough. Thanks, M!
