Right after we received news of an event where the new Motorola DROID phones will be unveiled, we finally get solid details about the Droid X. Engadget managed to spend a couple of hours with the device and were able to provide detailed information about the new MOTOBLUR phone. While it's important to note that the device Engadget worked with was a pre-production unit, some notes from the preview include:
It seems like Engadget was able to put together a pretty solid overview of the Droid X in the time given, and it's definitely nice to have some concrete information about the device. With the rumored specs, including the 1 GHz processor and 4.4-inch screen, the Droid X will certainly be able to compete with the HTC EVO 4G in the battle of Android superphones. What's interesting is that the welcome widget in the photo above was introduced with Android 2.2, but Engadget is reporting that the Droid X is running Android 2.1. We'll just have to wait until Verizon's event on June 23rd for all to be revealed, including the all-important pricing and release information. Word on the street is that the Droid X will be available on July 19th, and if I had to guess a price, I'd say around $199 on a two-year contract. What do you think of the Droid X?
Update: According to Verizon's teaser page that went live this morning, the DROID X is sporting a 4.3-inch display.
