Motorola has announced its newest Android device, the Milestone XT720. While it shares a name with the original Milestone, known to the U.S. as the Verizon DROID, the new Milestone XT720 bears a closer resemblance to the Motoroi than anything. The Milestone X720 will ship with Android 2.1 skinned with MOTOBLUR, although discussions about an upgrade to Android 2.2 are in progress. The device also has a 3.7-inch screen at 480x854 resolution, a 550 MHz processor, HDMI out, as well as an 8 megapixel camera capable of shooting 720p video at 24 fps. The camera is also packing a xenon flash, which tends to have a stronger burst of light than an LED flash. Motorola is planning to release the XT720 in Europe and has said that U.S. release plans are not being discussed. If the device does well in Europe, we wouldn't be surprised to see a U.S. launch at some point, but we'll have to wait and see. It's nice to see a MOTOBLUR device running Android 2.1, and hopefully this bodes well for other BLUR phones in the U.S. Alongside the announcement, Motorola released a short promo video for the XT720 which is embedded below. Would you pick up the Motorola Milestone XT720 if it became available on a carrier here in North America?
