In a move that may seem unfair to the owners of Android devices still on 1.5 or 1.6, it appears that Android 2.2 has been ported to the iPhone. The process to adapt the Android OS to the iPhone has been going on for a while now and it appears that users have ported Froyo to Apple's device before the official release of the OS. While this would be a fun experiment, you should know that Wi-Fi is not currently working, there is no power management to speak of, and the device gets extremely hot after a few minutes of use. The final and most important warning is that Android can't recognize the iPhone's GPU yet, so the experience may be a little choppy from time to time. This probably isn't something that should be tried by the faint of heart, but it's definitely nice to see that the iPhone hacking community is still going strong. Hopefully a more usable version of this hack is released soon and made available for newer iPhones and iPod Touches so that everyone can try Android without having to get their hands on a separate device. If this all sounds like something you want to try, the download link and instructions are available here.
