It's official folks, the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S gets its first carrier. Vodafone UK is the first to announce - on its coming soon page - they will be carrying the Galaxy S in the near future. Interestingly when you follow the link for "full details," one of the reasons listed for why you must have this phone, is that it's "exclusive to Vodafone with 16GB internal memory." It's a bit unclear what exactly that means, but I'm sure we'll find out soon enough.
The Samsung Galaxy S should be sporting Android 2.1 (maybe 2.2 if we're lucky) with a 4-inch capacitive touchscreen, GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi, FM Radio, option of 8 or 16GB internal memory with room for expansion, the rumored hummingbird processor and a 5MP auto-focus camera. When I was looking at the Vodafone website for the specs, I noticed something I've missed every other time when writing about this phone, the camera doesn't have a flash. I'll admit it's not a deal-breaker but with all the other features of this phone, not having a flash is a major bummer, it's certainly not how I envision the 'S' life.
I'm sure all you UK folks are real excited about this new device, and us Yankees are all jealous. Feel free to let us know either way in the comments.
