T-Mobile sent out a press release this morning detailing information on its new Android-powered Garminfone, which includes all of the usual Garmin navigation services. The Garminfone will be available this June in both T-Mobile retail stores and online for $199.99 on contract. As with all smartphones, users will be required to sign up for a matching data plan, although without one, the whole GPS aspect of this device would be somewhat useless.
The 3G device will offer all of the usual smartphone features such as Exchange capabilities, IM, and a 3 megapixel camera. On the GPS side of things, the phone is the first to offer Garmin Voice Studio, a feature that allows the user to record and share their own voice directions that can then be shared with others.
Does the new Garminfone have what it takes to succeed? Tell us your thoughts!
