Opera Software, the company that brings you both desktop and mobile web browsing applications, just announced Opera Mini 5 beta, their latest iteration of mobile web browsers available for Android. The good news? If you're an AT&T customer sporting the new Motorola BACKFLIP, OM5b is available through the Android Market. In other words, no one's stopping you from downloading it if that's what suits your fancy.
Features of the browser include speed dial (favorite sites), tabbed browsing, password management, bookmarks, opera link (allows you to sync with your desktop), and download manager. In addition to all those fine features, OM5b allows for faster rendering of sites that were not designed with the smartphone web browsing consumer in mind. "With Opera Mini optimized for Android, more people will be able to get a PC-like browsing experience on their mobile handsets," according to the press release.
Engadget posted a video review of OM5b that includes a dogfight of sorts (clearly not as cool as Noah's) between the stock Android browser and OM5b. OM5b takes home the prize with an impressive 15-second page rendering lead, leaving the default browser in the dust.
