Are you an iTunes user? Have you ever uttered a phrase like, “I love that song, but only the June 2001 version where they’re headlining at XYZ Hall. The studio recording blows”? Well, this one’s for you: There’s a new live music section in the store, courtesy of Apple and Live Nation.
The recordings feature live gigs by diverse artists and conductors like Katy Perry, Bruce Springsteen, Frank Sinatra and Gustavo Dudamel. Users can purchase a variety of concert videos, audio or classic concert albums. How is Apple dealing with all the rights issues associated with live performances? Well, these are all Apple or Live Nation venues, so apparently there’s no quibbling over copyrights.
Concert vids range in cost between $8 to $13, and albums generally go for around $8 (depending on selection). Individual tracks are also available for sale. Like all iTunes media purchases, the vids and audio are syncable to the iPhone and iPod Touch.
