Somewhere out there in America, someone created an iPhone app called iDROID. (Actually, it was Swavv Apps, creators of the Beer Pong app.)
Before anyone gets excited, iDROID wasn’t exactly feature-rich. It didn’t offer any Droid-like functionality or expand on current iPhone features. That would’ve been really cool. No, it just displayed the now-familiar glowing red eye, with some bullet points expounding Droid features that the iPhone doesn’t have. (Multi-tasking, hard QWERTY, etc…)
For once, the App Store approval process isn’t a mystery: The app was predictably denied. As for the developer, it takes something to spend the time and money to create… well… what amounts to a seriously tech-ified burn, and then send that straight to Cupertino. I know I’m supposed to be offended, but I actually found it kind of funny.
On a serious note, TechCrunch pointed out something interesting: This developer may have been trying to plug a competing device, but he used the iPhone to do it. So is it really a burn? Or is it an acknowledgement of the popular Apple handset as a huge vehicle for mobile marketing? I guess your point of view on that will depend on whether you’re an iPhone fankid or a hater.
