It was a matter of time before AT&T amended their lawsuit against Verizon to include the latest round of holiday commercials. As a reminder, AT&T is suing Big Red, claiming that the 3G coverage map is misleading potential customers into believing that Ma Bell has no coverage outside of the blue shown in the map. In reality, they do - though it is EDGE coverage (not 3G). A slippery slope indeed.
The best part of the amendment? The fact that AT&T had to explain the various commercials. The below excerpts are an attempt to describe the "Island of Misfit Toys" commercial (seen here):
"The “Island of Misfit Toys” television advertisement is a parody of the “Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer” television special that depicts an island to which Rudolph travels after escaping an attack from the Abominable Snow Monster."
"The spotted elephant, in a surprised manner, asks the iPhone “What are you doing here? You can download apps and browse the web!” and a Dolly for Sue asserts that “Yeah. People will love you[the iPhone].”"
'Tis the season to be jolly. Agree or disagree with AT&T's claims? Sound off in the comments section.
