At a press conference in London on Thursday, Sony Ericsson announced three new phones - the Satio (formerly known as the Idou), Yari, and the Aino.
The Satio, originally coined as the Idou at MWC 2009 in Barcelona earlier this year, is the manufacturer's flagship device for the year and will offer a 3.5-inch, 640x360 16:9 touchscreen display with an on-screen QWERTY keyboard, 12.1 megapixel camera with auto-focus, xenon flash and 12x digital zoom, 128 MB internal memory, a microSD card slot (8GB microSD card included), WebKit-based browser, FM radio, A-GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and the Symbian S60 5th edition OS. It will be available in black, silver, and bordeaux at launch.
The Aino will offer Remote Play with the PlayStation 3 - a feature that will allow users to access their PS3 for photos, music, and videos. With a social networking emphasis, it will offer a 3-inch 240×432 touchscreen, 8.1 megapixel camera, A-GPS, and Bluetooth. The Aino will ship with wireless headphones, an8GB microSD card and docking cradle. It will be available in black and white at launch.
The Yari will offer a 2.4-inch QVGA display, 5 megapixel camera, A-GPS, and Bluetooth. It will shipwith standard headphones, 1GB microSD card, and a cradle. Two variants ofthe Yari will be available, one supporting the European UMTS/HSDPA bands, and another "AT&T-friendly" device offering UMTS/HSDPA 850/1900/2100. It will also be available in black and white colors at launch.
