Seems like netbooks are all the rage these days. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out that inexpensive = good when you?re in a recession, and these little cheapie machines have been grabbing lots of headlines lately.  

So it's no surprise that Nokia's interested in joining the race. Here's the interesting bit: Its OS of choice, Symbian, might actually be running these new computers. The company indicated as much in recent comments to the press.

Seriously? I mean, you know the PhoneDog crew loves Symbian, but this just seems kind of weird. PC Mag's reaction hits the nail on the head: ?Is the device just going to be a huge phone? It's ridiculous. Stop now, guys, before it's too late!?

Now rumors are circulating about Google possibly bringing Android to its own netbook. That makes a little more sense, since its roots are in Linux. (Linux, Windows and OS X are the main computing platforms for computers.)

WIth PC makers already thigh-deep in mini notebooks, and rumors of an Apple netbook on the way, having a Google-supported Android computer seems kind of fitting. So I?m kind of hoping to see this come to market. Of course, if it does, we might lose John, our resident Android fanatic, as he sequesters himself in his basement to play with the new toy indefinitely.
