There might be a lot of buzz right now around HTC's next magical Android offering, but the HTC Touch Pro2 also got plenty of looks last week, when the masses got a sneak peek at this sleek new WinMo gadget. Now, North American fans can get excited that this won't just be yet another cool, new piece of tech for overseas users only ? the company promised via Twitter feed that the Touch Pro2 will be distributed pretty much everywhere, including the U.S.
According to the phone maker's Tweet, "The Touch Pro2 will be broadly available in all major markets, including North America.? No definitive launch date yet, but the company plans to start rolling out the TP2 in late Q2.
Today Brighthand posited that, since the first Touch Pro debuted in Europe first, then this WinMo phone may follow suit. That means that if it launches in Europe this summer, it could be here in the U.S. this fall (which is much better news than HTC's previous October Tweet, when they announced that the Touch HD wouldn't land in the States.)
Some facts about the Touch Pro2:
• Slider smartphone (with QWERTY keyboard)
• 3.6 inch, WVGA (800 by 480 pixel) touchscreen
• 528 MHz processor (Qualcomm)
• 288 MB RAM
• WinMo 6.1 (for now, but will can handle 6.5 when it's released)
• 3.2 MP auto-focus camera
• microSD card slot
• TouchFlo 3D
• 4.6 x 2.3 x 0.7 inches
• 6.17 oz (with battery)
No official word yet on what the wireless features will be. But it would be weird if this didn't at least have Wifi and GSM, since most of the world relies on that. But really only time will tell, so stay tuned.
In the meantime, if you?re a Touch Pro nut, it seems like Twitter is the company's favorite news distribution method of late, so you may want to start followin?.
