I usually don't like to call other blogs out by name, and generally
don't care all that much if other sites are running bogus rumors
(knowingly or not) in order to generate page views. But this week's
been full of absurd stories about PR people and bloggers alike acting
totally irresponsibly (and in just downright bizarre fashion), so I'm
gonna speak up here, for whatever it's worth.
T-Marco on CellPhoneSignal ran a story this morning entitled "T-Mobile G2
coming on January 26th '09." The story just got picked up by Boy
Genius Report, and so millions of people are now looking at it and
salivating.
The story is bogus. Totally wrong. The next T-Mobile Android
device will not be launched in January. I myself have
been hearing about a possible Q1 launch for awhile now, but in the face
of this morning's "news," a few of my trusted sources hit me up all in
a tizzy.
The truth is there's nothing firm on T-Mo's roadmap right now regarding the next Android-powered device ... EXCEPT that it's codenamed "Sapphire" (as I've been saying all along) and currently slated for a Q1 or Q2 release, but definitely NOT coming on January 26th. The details - specs, form factor, etc - are still up in the air. I'm still hearing "kind of like the HTC Touch HD, but with a trackball." But I can tell you that this little bit from CellPhone Signal's post cracks me up:
If T-Mobile launches an Android phone "Featuring web2go," they will be the laughingstock of the mobile world. Have you used web2go? Have you used G1's Web browser? Are you kidding me, web2go instead of the Android browser?
You know what I want for Christmas? I want these made up, bogus rumors to stop already. Find something else to do with your time instead of posting this crap. There's enough noise clogging up the Inernet's pipes as it is, T-Marco.
I'm not going to link back to this garbage. You know how to use Google, so you're smart enough to find the original "article" if you really want to. Okay, I'm off the soapbox now, sorry xD
