The times actually may be a changin' when it comes to high-end phones
getting US-ready 3G support right out of the box.  To wit, witness Sony
Ericsson's new flagship Cyber-shot handset, the C905.  Looks like a
C905 with AT&T-compatible 850/1900 WCDMA banding has cleared muster
with the FCC, and while a non-US version of the device has been kicking
around for a little while now, the lag time for a Ma Bell-approved 905
seems to have been pretty short.

Granted, an AT&T-branded K850i (a previous flagship Cyber-shot
device) kicked around the carrier's labs for months before finally
being scrapped, so don't get too excited just yet.  But, this is a good
sign if you like cameraphones - especially because SE knows how to make
a good cameraphone.  The old K790a is still one of the best examples of
the genre available if you actually value image quality along with your
pure megapixel count.

At any rate, if and when the C905 (C905a?) comes to AT&T, you
can expect an 8.1 MP CMOS shooter with autofocus, Xenon flash, and 3
LED light to assist in our capturing of QVGA video @ 30 fps.  You'll
also get BestPic and face detection functionality along with a
mechanical lens cover and all sorts of album, sharing, and photo
blogging software.  And, of course, a media player, Quad-Band GSM/EDGE/3G and WiFi connectivity, and support for both MS Exchange and Apple's iSync.
